Feeling Antsy

I'm not sure why, but I've been feeling antsy with my time off lately. I feel like I need to be doing something when I'm not. I guess it's still residuals from school. I should probably work on my jewelry and sell some of it. I have so many supplies right now, it would be nice to make some money back.

Maybe I'll do that today - it'll make me feel like I'm accomplishing something. :)

Exciting Stuff

Work has been going really well - we've been working on a few commercial spots. I've been focussing mainly on character rigging - with an occassional comping, and animating. I love the job - it's exciting. :)

I start Animation Mentor tomorrow afternoon. I keep forgetting it's going to start - and I'm so excited. I think I'll start another blog dedicated solely to that - and join it in with the Animation Mentor webring. :) I'll post a link in here shortly.

Well, I better get going - have to run into work today - we're on a tight schedule, so there's been a bit of overtime.

I'm excited about tomorrow. :) hee hee

Week Update

My first week at Beau was awesome. I'm doing a lot of rigging right now - which is cool - I'm learning a lot more in the process. My co-workers are fabulous - I'm still getting to know most of them, but I really enjoy them all, and I'm excited about the future there.

This week has been great. Aside from my first week at Beau, it was a fun week in general. Wednesday night we went to the Dodger's Game - where Chris arranged for all of us to meet Vin Scully. He was so sweet and wonderful. It's usually a little strange when you meet someone that historical and important - but he made it feel so comfortable and natural. :) Chris got Jeff this really awesome record of old recordings of the Dodgers, with Vin Scully on it - and he signed it. Then he took a few photos with us, where he hugged us close. :) It was really fun.

Friday was Joe's b-day bash at the Gypsy Cafe. The place was a little loud, but MAN, they have good food. And,they moved us upstairs into the big room (which usually is a gazillion dollars to book), but they charged us normal price. So it was really fun! Joe, I hope you had a happy birthday.

Let's see - Saturday we had an impromptu Margarita night at my house. It was pretty mellow, but really nice. :) Thanks everyone who made it out - I had a really good time. :)

Sunday was BBQ at Eric and Ali's - always a good time.

And Monday (today) is Memorial Day - so we have the day off. We're having a bonfire at Dockweiler beach - which is going on now, but I have some things to take care of, so I'll be joining everyone later.

Yay.

Ok, that's a wrap up of the week. It's been awesome. :)

if anyone's trying to reach me

My cell phone has been missing for almost two weeks. I'll either give up looking and get a new one this weekend, or it'll magically turn up. Sorry for any inconvenience. E-mail me if you need to get in touch. :)

Kind of spooky

I don't typically believe in these things, but it's sort of reassuring with everything that's going on right now (especially the ending - when it's talking about creating a new life to fulfill my dreams). I realize this stuff can apply to ANYTHING...but it's sort of cool. :)

I'm posting this on Thursday (morning), but Wednesday is the day that I accepted a job offer at Beau Studio. I'm so excited. Regardless of cosmic fate (blah blah), it's kind of a cool coincidence. :)

Congraduations!

We're done! I can't believe it. I'm so proud of my classmates - the senior show was amazing - the displays were fantastic, everyone did so well. Here's what my booth looked like:

And...we GRADUATED!!! It's such a weird sensation to be done. It's so exciting and slightly scary all at once. Otis was an amazing experience. So intense, memorable, and fantastic. I'm so proud of all of my classmates. *huge hugs* to all of you. :)

Do people come with warranties?

Because I need to cash mine in. I feel like all I've done is complain the past few days about my ailments - but good lord, they just seem to be getting worse and worse. I'm hoping this is a sign of being overworked, and not aging. If it's the later, I may rescind my previous comments about wanting to be 175 years old before I die.

...ouch

I was putting something in my car on Saturday, and I don't know if I twisted a weird way or what, but my wrist is KILLING me. Not like the "ouch, I hurt my wrist" kind, but more like the "ouch...that feels like Carpal Tunnel" kind. I'm hoping it's the short-term problem, rather than the long-term one. Being a digital media artist, this is one of my worst fears.

It's also making my thesis work a little difficult. I got a brace, which helps, but doesn't relieve it totally.

Please go away in a couple of days. *fingers crossed*

Plugging away

I'm scheduled to start clean-up animation tomorrow - I can't wait to see this all start coming together. :)

My site redesign is at a bit of a stand still - I really need to go in there and redo almost every page - but I figure I'll wait until a weekend when I have a few minutes (definitely before senior show) to fix things.

I'm sleepy - but excited. :) Ok, back to work.

Redesign

So, I'm working on my site redesign. I'm excited about getting my site and packaging all ready for our senior show. There are still a few glitches with the site - but they'll definitely be fixed by the time our senior show rolls around.

eeps - only 4 1/2 more weeks.

My thesis is going well right now. I'm just chugging away to get it. I know I'll finish something for the show - it might not be amazing - but at least it'll be a finished piece. It's a relief - I was stuck with so many problems in the beginning - and I'm sure there will be glitches, etc. to come, but I love the process of the whole thing. This has been an amazingly successful senior year - if even I only gain from it the confidence in my ability, and knowledge that I can do these things. :)

Ok - back to work with me. Yay! It's exciting.

I'm in rigging hell...

I know this doesn't mean much of anything to most everyone in the world...but I'm in rigging hell.

Something that everyone will be able to relate to: Why does everything go wrong when you most need everything to go right. Murphy's Law I guess - but I was hoping that I wouldn't have to say that every single one of Murphy's Laws applies to my life...especially right now.

On a lighter note - they announced the Coachella 2008 Line-up. Now all I have to do is get my senior thesis done before then. 13 weeks to go. Approximate estimated sleep until then: 13 hours.

:) Ok - back to work.

A New Year

Happy New Year to everyone! This year marks my last semester at Otis - which started yesterday. I'm completely excited and terrified all at the same time. I just hope I can finish my thesis and enjoy the semester. :)

I didn't make any resolutions - which I haven't really seemed to do the past few years.
Things that I'd like to change (but who's kidding who here?!)

- Write in blog more often. (Hmmmm)
- Get better organized. (I got a couple of calendars from people this year...think it's a hint?)
- Be better at keeping in touch with people. (Do occasional e-mails count?)
- Exercise at least 3 times a week. (Walking counts)
- Check my voicemail. (If you know me, you know why this is ironic)
- Sleep 7 hours a night. (Might not be possible with my last semester)
- Go on a trip somewhere new.

Maybe I could get them all finished at once by organizing and taking a walking trip somewhere new, where I check my voicemail and call people to catch up, and document the trip on my blog. *puff puff puff* I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

Site Updated!!!

I updated the work section of my website. Finally I got some stuff posted up. It's all work in progress (nothing's finished or final right now, except the work in the typographic book arts class).

Cool - I feel accomplished! :)

School is awesome

I really need to get my site up and going again with my work. I might spend a couple of hours on it today, just to get things up.

I haven't posted in forever, so I thought I should just give a quick update. Thesis is going well. I'm working on modeling still - mostly blendshapes now. I want to start binding next week, so I have a little more to do until then.

Here's a pic of what Chrissy is looking like now. She's much more finished (as you can see). The textures are temporary (just to get a feel) - so they're not the final of what she'll look like.
Chrissy Update 11-18-07

Good lord, I have so much to do. haha. Ok, back to work with me.

I'll post up more work soon.

Interesting Week

This week was good - I got some decent sleep, and I feel like I'm learning more and more at an increased rate. It's amazing how much I've grown in the past couple of years, I love it. :)

School - It's going well. My model is pretty much done, I'm just modeling the hair and clothes now - which hopefully won't take me long. I'd like to start rigging next week.

I got my sketchbooks done in Typographic Book Art.

Character animation is going well. I have a partially finished animation - a sneak that I'm working on - there's still a second part to come.

We're working on lip-syncing now - and I can't wait to get into it more...it's so exciting. :)

Friday was good - just worked on "interview questions", and in Acting worked on our scenes. Friday night's class was fun - we're putting together a "promotional video" for Otis - but my group has a fun outlook on it - so I'm excited. :)

Hmmm...that's it for now. Just plugging away on work.
(Tomorrow I'm going to see the Go! Team with my sis, DOC, and Hetz...I hope it's as great as it was at Coachella!) :)

Plugging away

I'm just working on my senior thesis right now. Modeling my characters in 3D - they still don't have hair, clothes, or teeth and tongue, but right now I'm working through getting the topography correct.

I realize right now, it's sort of weird to look at - but it should look good when I get it done. I can't wait to get the modeling, blendshapes, textures and rigging all done - so that I can start animating. :)

Here's a style frame so that you can get a more clear picture of what the project will look like when it's finished:

The father is a rig I downloaded at High End3d His name is Alfred, and he was created by Rodri Torres (with the help of Lowman). Thanks again Rodri for giving me the permission to use him in my thesis.

I'm also working on another animation right now (sort of a walk cycle) - that I'll post up when it's a little more complete. :)

Ok, back to work with me.

Been Forever....again

Well, I realized it's been a while since I've been on here - but I've been busy. I'm launching a new jewelry line soon - so hopefully that will help me get some extra money - as well, I'm still in school. It's my senior year. So it should be exciting. :) I'm working on Thesis a lot now, and trying to spread my time around for everything else as well. So, anyways, just wanted to pop by here to say I'm still alive. I'll try to post some of my work soon - when I get something decent finished. :)

See ya later. :)

Recent Work

I'm working on updating my site - but it's probably not going to be done until the summer time. In the mean time, I wanted to start posting some of my more recent work. I switched to Animation - so I'm starting fresh this semester. It's going well, and I love it. So here's a taste of some of my work I've completed while attending Otis.

Work in Progress...

Sculpture of Mom - 4-21-06
Here's a sculpture I've been working on of my mother. It's still a work in progress, but I'm taking a break from it until classes are over and I have more time in the summer.
