London, Edinburgh

Chris and I made it to London last night. Our friend Valerie has been gracious enough to let us stay at her enormous, lovely flat in London. To celebrate arriving, we went out to dinner with Val, and two of my sister's friends, Paul and his wife Jacqueline. It was a cute little pub tucked away in an offbeat area - delicious, filling foods, and yummy intoxicating beer (called Tiger something). It was my birthday, so we also got these two deserts - a baked pear in a cinnamon sauce, and a chocolate mousse with raspberries on top - to die for. :) We stumbled home (wreaking of smoke) and passed out for 6 hours.

We woke up early this morning (6:00am) to get to the airport to make our way to Edinburgh. We got a little confused with the Underground, and wound up realizing that if we waited for the next train, that we wouldn't make our flight - so we rushed upstairs to hail a cab to Paddington Station (to take the Heathrow Express back to Heathrow Airport). Luckily, a cab pulled up within a minute of us waiting - and we made it to our flight a few minutes before boarding (PHEW). Sat next to a really interesting guy (named Billy) on the plane. (Born in Dublin, lives in London and works in the music industry (record executive), and was on his way to meet up with his girlfriend and her family in Edinburgh.)

When we landed we took a cab to our Bed and Breakfast - at 7 Danube Street

It's really quaint and restful, and the owners (Fiona and Colin) are lovely people.

So far we've just done a little shopping and had lunch - I think we might go back to the b & b and get a nap before we go out for the night for Hogmanay

Have a Safe and Happy New Year!
